In 1964, John Morris opened his shop in Manor Road, Lancing, and quickly established a reputation for his excellent stock and knowledge of British and European model railways. We are now celebrating over 50 years of business and continue to build on that reputation.
When John Morris, Betty Colby and her brother opened J Morris in 1964, the shop originally sold electrical goods and toys. Soon model railways became a major part of the business, and quickly gained a reputation as a specialist in European model railways (including being one of the first UK stockists of Fleischmann) that continues to this day.
When the last of the founding partners retired in 2006, the business was acquired by Brian and Angie Jackson of Models and Hobbies in Steyning. The opportunity was taken to combine the two businesses at Lancing under the name ‘Morris Models’ and confirm the predominance of model railways at the core of the business.
Attempts to find a purchaser of the business prove regretfully unsuccessful when Brian and Angie sought retirement, so unfortunately the Manor Road shop closed for the last time at the end of August 2022.
